The museum is an initiative of the Foundation DAEG. (Dutch Aircraft Examination Group). Initially intended to put the findings of the various salvages on display. Through research into the backgrounds of the crashes, the interest for German Night Fighters and Deelen airfield grew and were the subjects in the museum more elaborate.
In total DAEG performed over 17 salvages of, including an ME110 in Zoelen, an ME109 in Rosandepolder in Oosterbeek, in the farmlands near Heteren, in the Rhine at Arnhem, a FW190 in the old Waal at Lobith.
